Attention current and former Dean supporters in Washington, Wisconsin, Michigan, Virginia, Tennessee, etc. etc.
The media are trying to write off Dean as dead. Look at what he stands for, how he got you into politics, and what his message is to the Democratic Party and the nation. If you still want that message heard, then it is important that you vote for him on primary/caucus day in your state. Don't let the media tell you whom to vote for. Dare I say it, you have the power.
Readers of my past comments would blanche at reading this, but it's consistent with my own very anti-Dean view of the primaries. Obviously, I'd prefer you would vote for CLARK because he is our best chance to beat Bush, better than Kerry, Edwards, or Dean. But it's more important that you have a voice and you use that voice. Dean will and should win delegates. Nearly every candidate, especially Kerry, has appropriated Dean's messages. The Democratic Party owes Dean immeasurably. My opinion has always been that Dean would not be a good nominee for our party in this election, but that doesn't mean I don't like him. I hope his contributions to the Democratic Party are recognized. By giving him delegates you give power to his message and you reward him for his service to his party.
This is not an underhanded way to help my preferred candidate Clark. Clark would be helped by Kerry finishing off Dean so we don't have to share free media with him. But now that Dean is not a threat to my candidate, I can step back and appreciate what he's done to energize the part of America that makes me proud to live here.
